How We Handle Your Data

Local-Only Operations (No Data Transfer)

For most file operations, your data never leaves your computer. These include:

• Renaming files based on AI instructions
• Moving and organizing files into folders
• Merging spreadsheets and documents
• Sorting and categorizing files
• Any operation that doesn't require reading file content

For these operations, only your text instructions are sent to our AI service. Your actual files remain entirely on your local machine.

Content-Based Operations (Requires Data Transfer)

Some operations require the AI to read the content of your files. These include:

• Summarizing document content
• Extracting specific data from files
• Analyzing file content for categorization
• Any request that explicitly asks about file contents

When you explicitly request such operations, the relevant file content is temporarily sent to our servers for AI processing. This content is:

• Transmitted securely via encrypted connections (TLS 1.3)
• Processed only for the specific operation you requested
• Not stored permanently on our servers
• Not used to train AI models
• Deleted immediately after processing

Account Information

When you create a SideDoc account, we collect:

• Email address (for account identification and communication)
• Password (stored securely using industry-standard hashing)
• Usage statistics (number of AI operations performed)
• Subscription and billing information (processed by our payment provider)

Third-Party Services

SideDoc uses the following third-party services:

• Anthropic (Claude AI) — For natural language processing and AI features
• Stripe — For secure payment processing

Each of these services has their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

Data Retention

• File content: Deleted immediately after processing (not stored)
• Account information: Retained while your account is active
• Usage logs: Retained for up to 90 days for debugging purposes
