File Operations (Local Execution)

All file operations — renaming, moving, merging, sorting — are executed locally on your computer. Your files are never uploaded or stored on our servers.

For operations that do not require understanding file content (e.g., "sort by file type" or "move all PDFs to a folder"), only your text instructions are sent to our AI service.

Content-Based Operations (Requires Data Transfer)

When the AI needs to understand what is inside your files, the relevant content is sent to our servers for processing. Examples include:

• Renaming files based on their content
• Summarizing or analyzing documents
• Extracting specific data from files
• Any request that requires reading file contents

This content is:

• Transmitted securely via encrypted connections (TLS 1.3)
• Processed only for the specific operation you requested
• Not stored permanently on our servers
• Not used to train AI models
• Deleted immediately after processing

Account Information

When you create a SideDoc account, we collect:

• Email address (for account identification and communication)
• Password (stored securely using industry-standard hashing)
• Usage statistics (number of AI operations performed)
• Subscription and billing information (processed by our payment provider)

Third-Party Services

SideDoc uses the following third-party services:

• Anthropic (Claude AI) — For natural language processing and AI features
• Stripe — For secure payment processing

Each of these services has their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

Data Retention

• File content: Deleted immediately after processing (not stored)
• Account information: Retained while your account is active
• Usage logs: Retained for up to 90 days for debugging purposes
